Description
Drysdale wool: the long variety! Staple length averages from 18-23cm.
This is carpet wool (ie. around 35 micron+ ).
Drysdale wool is double-coated (like primitive fleeces), has no crimp and no lustre. The outer coat has a harsh feel to it.
In these staples the undercoat is approximately about 8-10cm long (compared to the long outer coat).
This wool is suitable for craft wool and certain styles of woven rugs. It can also potentially be used as a horse hair substitute for rope etc.
Drysdale fleece takes dye very well (unlike other wools, the dyes can sometimes *improve* the handle of the outer coat!!)
This wool is sold as raw fleece and may contain small amounts of vegetable matter. It has been basically skirted but will have some variation in staple length. Please be aware that although the harsher outer coat has limited felting the undercoat felts easily during washing/dyeing.
